REALLY GREEN SMART'S TOP GARDENING TIPS FOR MAY

27 April 2016 by Really Green Smart Garden Company

Summer’s on its way(or so the weather forecasts will tell us). As your winter bulbs fade, it’s now time to turn your attention to summer planting and sowing your bedding plants. It’s also time to get back into the lawn mowing and gardening tidy regime – as the lawn will be loving the warmer temperatures May will bring (hopefully!). Here are Really Green Smart’s top gardening tips, we hope they help but if not and your garden or grounds are getting out of hand, give us a call and we will come to your rescue!

  • Keep an eye out for Jack Frost, he sometimes oversleeps and so watch for those late frosts and give your tender plants some frost protection.
  • If the weather permits (depending on where you live) put out your summer bedding plants at the end of May.
  • Weeds, it’s time for them to go! Regularly hoe off weeds to keep your garden looking really green and smart.
  • Check those water buts and ensure there are no leaks. It’s time to start thinking about saving water for those hot and dry summer days for irrigation.
  • Don’t forget the greenhouse plants! Open the doors and vents on warm days.
  • Your grass will be loving the warm weather and it will begin growing again. Start to plan your weekly(ish) lawn cutting and tidying.
  • Earth up your potatoes and plant any still remaining asap.
  • Lift and divide overcrowded daffodil areas and other spring flowering bulbs

Love life and enjoy your garden!
