A New Era of Smart Gardening: Spring & Summer 2026
At Really Green SMART Garden Co., working smart isn’t just a slogan – it is in our name. As we head into Spring and Summer 2026, we are stepping confidently into a new era of intelligent gardening. An era where technology, sustainability and ease of use combine to give you a better garden with less effort.
To understand why this moment feels so significant, we need to rewind a little.
The Summer That Changed Garden Machinery
Back in the summer of 2014, a new brand arrived in the UK: EGO Power+. For many homeowners and garden professionals, it marked the beginning of a genuine shift away from petrol-powered garden equipment.
Until then, petrol machinery had been the norm. It was powerful, yes – but also noisy, heavy, maintenance-intensive and not exactly environmentally friendly. Mixing fuel, changing spark plugs, dealing with fumes and servicing engines was simply accepted as part of garden care.
EGO introduced something different: 56-volt cordless garden machinery built around advanced battery technology and brushless motors.
Let’s break that down.
What Does “Brushless” Actually Mean?
A brushless motor (sometimes called a digital motor) is a type of electric motor that does not use carbon brushes to transfer electricity inside the motor. Traditional brushed motors create friction and heat, which reduces efficiency and leads to wear over time.
Brushless motors:
Run more efficiently
Produce less heat
Require less maintenance
Deliver more power for longer
Have a longer lifespan
In simple terms, they are smarter, cleaner and more durable.
Combine that with EGO’s patented 56V battery system, and something impressive happened. Garden tools became:
Easy to start (no pull cords)
Quiet in operation
Clean and emission-free at point of use
Simple to store
Interchangeable across the same battery platform
One battery, multiple tools. That was – and still is – smart.
Confidence Backed by Warranty
For domestic users, EGO offered a five-year warranty on tools and a three-year warranty on batteries. That level of confidence was unusual at the time.
Development testing showed up to 1,400 recharge cycles before any noticeable loss in battery performance. For the average homeowner, that translates into many years of reliable use.
Over the past decade, the range has grown and evolved. Lawnmowers have become more powerful and refined. Hedge trimmers lighter and more ergonomic (that means designed to be comfortable and efficient for the human body). Ride-on equipment has joined the portfolio. Strimmers (also known as line trimmers), leaf blowers, chainsaws and more have all been developed with the same clean, cordless philosophy.
Rechargeable. Easy to use. Quiet. Supported by a strong service network.
Smart gardening had arrived.
But now, in 2026, we are witnessing what we believe is a true step change.
Not just smart. REALLY GREEN SMART.
Introducing the EGO AURA R2 Robotic Mower
Meet the EGO AURA R2.
This is not simply a robotic lawnmower. It is a machine designed to understand your environment and work independently with remarkable intelligence.
For many people, the idea of a robotic mower still brings to mind boundary wires buried around the garden and basic random movement patterns. The AURA R2 is a different proposition entirely.
It uses a suite of advanced technologies working together seamlessly.
Let’s demystify the jargon.
GPS and RTK – Precision Matters
The mower uses GPS (Global Positioning System), which most of us are familiar with from car navigation or smartphones. GPS allows the mower to understand its location.
However, standard GPS can sometimes be accurate only to within a few metres. For mowing, that is not precise enough.
This is where RTK (Real-Time Kinematic positioning) comes in. RTK is a technology that refines GPS accuracy down to centimetre-level precision. It does this by using a reference station to correct positioning data in real time.
For you, this means:
Straight, consistent mowing lines
Efficient coverage
No missed patches
No unnecessary overlap
The mower knows exactly where it has been and where it needs to go.
Visual Inertial Odometry – Staying on Track
Another term you may not have heard before is visual inertial odometry.
Put simply, this is a system that combines camera input with motion sensors (such as accelerometers and gyroscopes) to calculate movement and position. It helps the mower understand how it is moving through space.
If GPS signal becomes weak – for example under tree cover – the mower can still maintain accurate positioning by analysing its own motion and surroundings.
It is rather like giving the mower spatial awareness.
Visual SLAM – Building a Map of Your Garden
The AURA R2 also uses Visual SLAM, which stands for Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping.
This technology allows the mower to build a digital map of your lawn and garden using binocular camera technology (two cameras working together, similar to human eyesight).
Here’s what that means in practical terms:
The mower learns the layout of your garden
It identifies boundaries
It recognises obstacles
It adapts to changes
If a child’s football is left on the lawn, or a garden chair is moved, the mower can detect and avoid it.
This is not random movement. It is intelligent navigation.
What It Means for You
Quite simply: you may never need to mow the lawn again.
Imagine:
No weekend mowing routine
No petrol smells
No grass clippings to collect
No noise disturbing neighbours
The AURA R2 is quiet and pollution-free at point of use. It works consistently and automatically, keeping your lawn looking immaculate without demanding your time.
And there is something else happening beneath the surface.
Why Mulching Is One of the Best Things for Your Lawn
Unlike traditional mowing where grass is cut and collected, robotic mowers typically mulch.
Mulching means cutting the grass into very fine clippings and returning them to the lawn. These tiny clippings break down quickly and act as a natural fertiliser.
Benefits include:
Returning nutrients to the soil
Reducing the need for chemical fertilisers
Improving soil moisture retention
Encouraging healthy root development
Because the mower cuts little and often, the grass is never stressed by heavy cuts. The result is a healthier, denser lawn.
There is also significantly reduced soil compaction.
Soil compaction occurs when heavy machinery presses down on the soil, reducing air spaces that roots need to grow. Traditional petrol mowers – and certainly ride-on machines – are far heavier than a robotic mower.
The AURA R2 is lightweight. Less weight means less compaction. Less compaction means healthier roots.
Healthier roots mean a better lawn.
A Smarter Way to Enjoy Your Garden
The real luxury here is not just a perfect lawn.
It is time.
Time with family. Time entertaining. Time relaxing. Time actually enjoying the garden instead of maintaining it.
And yes – most robotic mower owners eventually give their mower a name. It becomes part of the household.

Launch Offer – Spring 2026
Until the end of June 2026, each model includes a free gift worth £200. Customers can choose between:
Hedge trimmer
Strimmer
Leaf blower
Normally, there is an installation cost to map your selected mowing zones and complete the set-up of the control app. This process ensures the mower understands your garden layout perfectly from day one.
However, keep an eye on our launch offers – there may be opportunities to reduce or remove those initial costs.
The Bigger Picture: Really Green SMART
For us, this is about more than a product launch.
It is about:
Reducing reliance on fossil fuels
Cutting noise pollution
Improving lawn health naturally
Saving time and effort
Making advanced technology accessible
Smart gardening began with cordless power. In 2026, it evolves into intelligent autonomy.
The Really Green SMART Garden Co. name has always stood for working smarter. Now it also stands for working greener.
A healthier lawn. A quieter neighbourhood. A cleaner way to garden.
And perhaps, just perhaps, no more Saturday morning mowing.
All you will need to do is decide what to call it.
